In order to keep storage areas orderly and to store supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck could be used. The reach truck is available in quite a few kinds: the double-deep reach, straddle reach and the stand-up reach.
The most basic kind is the stand-up. The truck forks slide under the pallet and move it to the correct storage location. The forks slide the pallet into position. This particular kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are just one pallet deep.
The double-deep reach truck is similar to the stand-up, but is best for workplaces where shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods. This particular version has telescopic forks intended to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This eliminates the need to push the pallet back when one more pallet should go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they can both slide underneath the pallet and grasp the sides too. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in many directions. This particular version is ideal in situations where goods will not be damaged if the pallet sides are grabbed.
Often more than one kind of reach truck is needed within warehouses. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms use various types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not difficult to use and can make the most of available storage space while increasing productivity.
