Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are big industrial equipment designed with a straight boom arm that is extendable. The boom is normally located on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are normally used for jobs that require tasks to be carried out at heights which exceed other types of lifts. For example, employees could carry out exterior renovations or repairs on medium sized buildings but using these lifts instead of having the extra work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The bucket of the boom lift generally just holds one employee. These buckets are more suited to particular jobs like electrical repair, as opposed to general maintenance or window washing. These lifts are available with both indoor and outdoor tires and are available in electric and gas configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces under the work platform. These braces squeeze together in order to push the platform straight up. As these machinery should be positioned directly under the work site, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, provide bigger platforms which allow the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these models, as they should sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for window installation or cladding, since they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a great option for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Boom trucks, bucket trucks and cherry pickers each refer to the class a kind of utility vehicle used specifically for vertical work. Usually, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machinery. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand in addition to an actuator arm for raising the boom and a winch for carrying.
Cherry pickers could lift employees up to heights which were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy supplies and equipment for one location to another. There are different kinds of cranes that can perform various purposes. Both of these different kinds of machines excel at different jobs and are great for certain applications and finishing particular tasks.
